Mark Larsen joined INB with eight years of experience as a mortgage loan officer. He took the opportunity to be part of our staff located in INB’s new Bloomington-Normal branch because he’d seen how INB worked while with another lender. “INB has a brand new branch here in town. This was very exciting and made me want to be a part of the growth of INB here in Bloomington-Normal and the rest of Central Illinois. That coupled with the bank’s great reputation locally for closing loans on time, keeping all parties happy, as well as their low rates.”
At the end of the day, Mark says it’s all about taking care of his customers.
“I have the typical story of starting from the bottom,” he says. He began working “at the bottom” in 2005 with another mortgage lender, and once he felt confident enough to serve customers on his own, he made the leap to loan officer. Once there, he realized how much he enjoyed meeting with people face-to-face for the first time. During these initial meetings, he often discovers the home buyer doesn’t always know the steps needed to get from wanting a house to owning a home, so he takes the time to explain it.“ After our meeting, they feel confident and excited to move forward in the process.”
“I have always prided myself on being able to analyze all consumers’ situations to maximize their financial goals and discuss long-term versus short-term aspirations. I also find it very important to counsel consumers with less than ideal credit or financial situations so that they may better their current situation or help them work to a timeframe when they can reach their goal of home ownership. “
To that end, Mark is looking forward to helping more individuals and families with their housing needs and financial goals. “I plan to help grow the INB brand here locally so that the people use us for not just mortgages, but for all of their banking needs.”
Mark earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale with a specialization in Environmental Resource Management and Geographic Information Science/Systems. He’s very active in the community, serving as the working group chair for the City of Bloomington’s Comprehensive Plan on Natural Environment and the City of Bloomington Beautification Committee.
Mark lives in Bloomington with his wife, Sara, and daughter, Lily.
