Todd’s a salesman, but he sells friendship. “If people like you, they’re going to do business with you. I want the people who come to the bank for a home loan to know first and foremost I’m here to help them make buying their home a great experience from start to finish. And after they move, I want them to know I’m still available.”

Todd takes his commitment to availability quite seriously. “Friends tease me about my banker’s hours, but I assure them they don’t want my hours! I give all of my clients my cell number and tell them to call or text whenever they need me. Real estate brokers work weekends, so I need to be available when they’re working.”

Seventy-five to 80 percent of Todd’s clients are happy to go through the mortgage process via email or over the phone. While he’s glad to work with a customer over the phone, he likes meeting in person. “Oftentimes I’ll pick up and deliver paperwork as a way to touch base in person. Some people want to fill out the application on their own time and terms. That’s fine; I try to make it easier by emailing instructions.”

He especially encourages first-time homebuyers to meet with him early on in the process. “I want them to understand how things will go. They get nervous. They don’t need to.” Todd always lets his customers know when they hit milestones along the mortgage process.

Though Todd’s only been with INB for a little over a year, he’s been in the mortgage loan business for 12 years. Before selling homes he sold cars. He studied at Western Illinois University and is a graduate of Rushville High School. He’s called Chatham his home since 1996 and spends as much time as he can with his kids, all students: Tanner, at Glenwood High; Troy, at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville; and Taylor, at the University of Illinois-Springfield. They enjoy sporting events together, especially U of I, STL Cardinal and Cowboy games. Todd and his boys enjoy “the hair band” concerts: Motley Crue, KISS and Def Leppard. He and Taylor take in the country acts like Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney and Rascal Flatts. He also enjoys cooking and thinks he will one day win “CHOPPED” on the Food Network Channel.
